Rudy Atwood was the accompanist on the “Old Fashioned Revival Hour” from 1937 until 1969. He died in 1992. Many attended the live broadcasts of the OFRH at the Municipal Auditorium in Long Beach, California, just to watch Rudy play. His treble arpeggios and octave bass runs added a Bach-like accompaniment as his hands seemingly flew across the keyboard. He has been called the Dean of Gospel Pianists and at least two generations of church accompanists have emulated his distinctive style.
