Chuck Bridwell, now retired, served as a full-time Minister of Music for 43 years in churches in Texas, Florida, Oklahoma and Kentucky. He now resides in Gainesville, Georgia where he serves as part-time Minister of Music at Flat Creek Baptist Church. He is also the Executive Coordinator of the Baptist Church Music Conference, a national organization of Baptist church musicians. He has a church music consulting service, Music Ministry Tune Up. In addition, he is called upon to teach at various music conferences, to conduct choral clinics and continues writing and arranging choral music.
Mr. Bridwell, a native of Fort Worth, Texas, earned a Bachelor of Music degree from Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1965, and a Master of Church Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas in 1968. Chuck has musical works published by several different music companies. In addition, he has had articles and contributions published in books and periodicals. He is a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers). He has done musical transcriptions for Baptist men’s singing groups of Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
Mr. Bridwell has been President of the Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma, Florida Baptist Singing Men, Florida Baptist Church Music Conference and Singing Men of Texas-North Central. He has been an adjunct instructor in church music at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, as well as having served on the Board of Advisors for the Center for Christian Music Studies at Baylor. He is currently singing with Sons of Jubal, the men’s singing group of the Georgia Baptist Convention. He also serves on the board of directors for the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra. In the spring of 2016, he received the Lifetime Ministry Achievement Award from the Baptist Church Music Conference.
Mr. Bridwell and his wife, Debbie, reside in an active adult resort community, Cresswind at Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia, where he serves as President of the Sports and Games Club. He is also the founder and director of the 100-member Cresswind Community Chorus.
Mr. Bridwell and Debbie have been married 48 years. They have two married daughters and six grandchildren. While their daughters were at home the Bridwell family had seven foster children, one at a time.
